The aim of our summer school was to support our incoming Year 7 students who may have missed time out of education due to COVID-19, as well as to aid the transition process for their official start to the academy in September.

Academy Summer Camps

Our Summer School took place between the 9 - 13 August.

We were able to offer a total of 121 Summer School places to students each day of the summer school. The summer school carried out two parallel summer schools: Sports and Performing Arts. These introduced students to activities and enrichments they could become involved in during their time at the academy.

Sports involved different activities each day such as hockey, athletics and rock climbing. Performing Arts consisted of art, music and dance workshops. These were all combined with an academic element throughout the week to enable students to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

We received a summer school funding allocation of £31,508.00 to aid the running of the summer school. This funding covered costs including staffing, resources and materials for activities and break and lunch provided for every student.
