Year 10 Health Day

July 16, 2026

Our Year 10 students recently enjoyed a fantastic Health Day, spending the day off timetable taking part in a wide range of activities designed to promote mental wellbeing, physical health and personal safety. The day provided students with valuable opportunities to develop important life skills, learn from experts and experience new activities, all while having fun.

Throughout the day, students participated in workshops led by ACT Middlesbrough, where they explored the realities of drug use and discussed the importance of breaking down the stigma surrounding addiction. These sessions encouraged open and honest conversations, helping students understand how to access support and why seeking help should always be viewed as a strength.

Students also embraced a variety of physical activities, including wheelchair basketball, jiu-jitsu and a bootcamp fitness session, giving them the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop resilience and experience inclusive sport. Alongside these energetic activities, students took part in mindfulness sessions, creative art and scrapbooking workshops, and a peaceful river walk, all designed to encourage reflection, relaxation and positive mental health.

The day was a tremendous success, and our Year 10 students’ willingness to participate, try new experiences and engage with our visitors made the day a pleasure for everyone involved.

A huge thank you goes to all of our external providers for delivering such inspiring sessions, and to the Macmillan staff who organised, led and supported the day. Their hard work ensured our students enjoyed a memorable experience that highlighted the importance of looking after both their physical and mental wellbeing.
