A fantastic day of creativity at the academy!
We were delighted to welcome Phil Mealey to the academy on Friday.
Phil is an acclaimed actor and writer, best known for his work on The Royle Family (2006–2012), Early Doors (2003–2004) and Sunshine (2008). He joined a large group of Year 10 students in the Theatre for an inspirational session that explored not only the craft of writing, but also the importance of setting goals, resilience, and determination to succeed.
In a second workshop, a mixed group of Post 16 and Year 10 students were invited to take part in a hands‑on writing session. This lively workshop gave students the chance to pick up expert tips, develop script ideas, and even read their work aloud for feedback.
The sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by all, and it was fantastic to see our language students so actively engaged—learning from a renowned writer while gaining confidence in their own creative abilities.
