Year 10 to 13 students from Macmillan Academy are invited to attend the Connect Career Conference, a free careers and progression event designed to support young people, particularly those from migrant backgrounds or with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), to make informed decisions about their futures.

- Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
- Venue: Middlesbrough Community Church, St Aidan’s Centre, TS1 4BZ

What students will gain
The conference will feature:
- Inspiring talks from professionals and people with lived experience
- Specialised workshops on university access, apprenticeships and volunteering
- Clear understanding of apprenticeship pathways and alternatives to university
- Opportunities to engage directly with organisations, employers and services
- Space for students and parents/carers to interact and ask questions
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, and supported by Cleveland Police and partner organisations, the event offers trusted, high‑quality guidance at a crucial decision‑making stage.
Why this matters for your school
Students from migrant families, especially those with NRPF, often face barriers such as limited access to tailored careers advice and unclear information about post‑16 and post‑18 options. Promoting this event enables Macmillan Academy to further support underserved students in your catchment, while complementing your existing CEIAG provision. The event is open to all Year 10 and 11 students, with targeted support for those who may need it most.
