Who I Am Now
I’m a Journalist at BBC Tees, working across sport, radio, TV, online and social media.
My Journey
I originally applied for Primary Education at Durham University, but after discovering Sport Journalism at Teesside University, I followed my gut and it paid off. During my first year, I won an award that led to work experience at BBC Radio Tees. After volunteering for a year, I gained freelance opportunities reading bulletins, presenting sport shows and reporting across the region.
In 2022, I became a permanent member of staff and have since won national awards doing what I love. Looking back, that “calculated gamble” in Post 16 set me on a path to a career I enjoy every day.
“If you’re passionate enough about something, you’ll work hard enough to make your dreams a reality.”
What Matters
Your decisions don’t define you your work ethic does. Passion, even for something niche, can become your career. I was unsure almost a decade ago, but I learned that it’s not about where your choices take you, but where you take them.
