OCR Level 2 Nationals in Information & Communication Technology

ictICT is essentially a practical course in Years 10 and 11. There are no examinations. You will be assessed on coursework only, just like in Year 9. In the course you will learn about the developments in ICT and cutting edge software.

If you opt for ICT in one option block (single) you would expect to obtain the National Award in ICT (being equivalent to 2 GCSEs).

If you opt for ICT in two option blocks (double) you would expect to obtain the National Certificate in ICT (equivalent to 4 GCSEs). You will have 5 lessons per week in both Years 10 and 11.

  • Webpage creation
  • Designing and producing multimedia products
  • Spreadsheets, design and use
  • Application of computer control
  • Creating animation for the WWW
  • Creating sound using ICT
  • Creating video

Directions at Post 16

ICTThere are 2 courses available to you at Post 16 ‘A’ Level Computing and GCE Applied ICT. Computing covers the more theoretical side of the subject and offers you the chance to undertake a major piece of computer programming. Applied ICT concentrates on improving your skills, and in the use and development of application software.

Routes after Post 16

A degree in computing can lead to many possible jobs from systems analysis to network management. Computer professionals are highly paid individuals whose skills are always in demand. Most jobs in the third millennium will involve some use of ICT.
