BTEC First Diploma Health & Social Care
The BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of six units:
- Communication and Individual Rights
- Individual needs within Health & Social Care Sectors
- Vocational Experience in a Health & Social Care Setting
- Human Lifespan development
- Cultural Diversity in Health & Social Care
- The Impact of Diet on Health
Each unit deals with a different aspect of the health 'industry' and illustrates how people cope with life and the changes, experiences, problems and life choices that we have to face.
Unit 3, Vocational Experience requires students to spend 60 hours in a care setting and this would mean spending their two week placement (in Year 10) in a care setting.
All six units are assessed through continuous coursework which obviously means constant commitment to hard work to achieve the equivalent of four GCSEs.
The BTEC is directly relevant to the world of work and employment. This means you will need to plan and then be able to carry out your own research for much of the course. This is very rewarding as it helps you to find out about the many and varied careers available and helps you choose your career path.
