A group of Year 9 students recently visited The University of York to attend the launch event of 'The Big Deal' project. This competition allows students in years 9 and 10 who have an interest in enterprise to develop both skills and ideas. Teams of students over the next 13 weeks will compete against each other to develop a product or social enterprise business plan which is unique and innovative.

Business professionals who work across a range of sectors are matched to teams and provide support and guidance throughout an online curriculum. Student teams will pitch their ideas and business plan at the grand final Dragons' Den event held in York in late June.


The programme is part of The University of York outreach programme and seeks to raise aspirations, increase confidence and give students the opportunity to learn about business careers.
