On Sunday 19 February 32 Post 16 students and 4 staff headed off on the first Post 16 visit to New York City. After a flight from Manchester to JFK airport the group were ready to see the sights and sounds of New York. They checked into their hotel which was situated on Times Square and began their busy itinerary, which included a trip to the highline, Central Park, the New York Supreme Court and a Broadway show to see the Cirque Du Soleil theatrical Paramour.

The group also visited the 9/11 memorial site which included a trip up the Freedom Tour and a ferry cruise around Staten Island to see the Statue of Liberty followed by a walk over Brooklyn Bridge. The last day of the visit culminated in a visit up the Empire State Building which allowed the group to fully appreciate the spectacular views of New York City.

Head Boy Kieran McIntyre thoroughly enjoyed the visit "The visit to New York was amazing; seeing all the landmarks in New York was my personal highlight and I can't wait to go again in the future." The students were a credit to Post 16 and we hope this is the start of many cultural visits on offer to our sixth form students.
