Macmillan Academy has recently made a meaningful community connection to Middlesbrough’s Marks and Spencer. Through a connection initiated by Miss Cook, the academy’s careers advisor, Marks and Spencer has gladly accepted an ongoing commitment to provide work experience to Year 12 Hospitality students.

All the students involved have already worked hard towards this placement as each student has successfully passed a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate in order to make the most of this opportunity. This placement will provide the students with an invaluable insight and understanding of working within the hospitality sector as they will be working both within the Marks and Spencer coffee shop and the in store bakery. Moreover, all of their efforts and experience will be carefully recorded and observed in order to be included in their portfolio of evidence, which will undoubtedly provide the students with an advantage in regards to the progression within their current studies as well as empowering their own personal development and employability skills.
