Year 12 student Olivia Chambers has been moved by the plight of the world’s refugees and is taking action here in the academy by organising a collection of clothing and shoes, camping gear, stationery, toys and toiletries.

Through her contact with charities such as 'Help Refugees' and 'Yorkshire Aid', Olivia decided to raise awareness of her campaign through posters and through a presentation which she delivered during the Post 16 briefing.

So far, Olivia has collected five sacks of clothing, and has been given teddies/toys and toiletries. She is keen to collect more so that she can hand over as much as possible to 'Yorkshire Aid' when she goes to their warehouse in Leeds. From there, the items collected will be sent around Europe or given to refugees who have settled around the north.

If you/your family fancy having a January clear-out and would like to donate, please bring in whatever you can and leave it, clearly labelled 'Yorkshire Aid' in ICT1 before Friday 3rd February.
