On Friday 2nd December students from Year 11 went to York for the final session of the 'Shine' Programme. The 'Shine' programme is run by York University and aims to provide information to higher ability secondary school students about further education with the view to encouraging higher ability pupils to have the confidence and knowledge to apply to elite universities.

At Macmillan, students from Years 7-11 take part in the programme as part of the wider Athena Programme. It was a very busy day with sessions on student finance and budgeting, revision and memory techniques, choosing the right A Levels and choosing the right university courses.

All students looked very smart in business dress and were and were confident and proactive during the day's sessions. Well done to all students involved, you were a credit to the academy!
