On Sunday 25th September, 34 students and 4 staff left Macmillan Academy to visit the beautiful region of the Loire Valley in France. The Loire is famous for its striking river, which flows past amazing castles, palaces and fine mansions and is a UNESCO Wold Heritage Site.

On the first day of their visit, the students enjoyed the medieval town of Chauvigy, where they were able to explore the new and the old town and practise their French through talking with local people and buying food and souvenirs.

On the second day they enjoyed the beautiful castle of Chenonceau, which spans the river Cher, and features expansive formal gardens. The castle has a mixture of late Gothic and early Renaissance architecture.

On the last day they visited Futuroscope, an impressive French theme park, which uses multimedia cinematographic audio-visual techniques including 3D and 4D cinema to enhance the futuristic rides, attractions and shows.

It was a superb week with plenty of smiles and fun throughout the trip. The students behaved impeccably and it was a real pleasure to see them enjoying French culture.
