Staff and students at Macmillan Academy are celebrating another strong set of Post 16 results. These results are a reflection of the hard work of students and the dedication of Post 16 teaching and support staff at the academy.

With an overall 97.5% pass rate, and 100% vocational pass rate, once again many students have been successful in reaching their first choice destinations. Students are going to universities far and wide, from the local universities of Teesside, Newcastle and Durham to those further afield such as Imperial College London. Equally, students have opted to study a real range of courses including clinical technology and aerospace engineering as well as the more traditional subjects. Alongside those students going to university, it is pleasing that in such a competitive labour market, several students have gained employment and apprenticeships.

Whilst the academy is proud of the achievements of all students, there were some exceptional individual results. Angelica Andrejczyk gained A* grades in biology and mathematics and an A grade in chemistry which has secured her place to study natural sciences at the University of Durham. Cameron McArthur gained 1 A* in music and 3 A grades in mathematics, English literature and French. He is now going to study music at the University of York. Furthermore, the following achieved A* or A grades in 3 or more subjects: Daniel Ben Tiba, Jade Pearce, Henry Downs and Krishna Ravulapalli.

Students following vocational courses also achieved impressive results particularly in health and social care. Emily Bennett, Holly Clark, Zoya Mehrban, Haleema Tariq and Natalia Walayat all achieved D*D*D*. All of these students now intend to study a health related course at a local university.

There was further success in business and law with the following students achieving D*D* in business and D* in law: Shuaib Ali, Aimee Lefevre and Lewis Mahoney.
