Macmillan's Year 9s made history as they completed the third leg of their three-trophy marathon. The weather was the distraction before kick off as persistent rain hampered the playing surface making visibility low and playing conditions unpleasant.

Macmillan came into this final with two trophies already won and knowing that they had already defeated Kings Academy 3-2 in the league this season. They started the stronger side and pressed for the opening goal with Stephen Walker forcing the King's goalkeeper to react quickly and palm a ferocious shot, which was heading into the top of the goal, over the bar.

A succession of corner kicks followed for the team in burgundy and when a clearing header fell to Keane Grantham on the edge of the box he connected sweetly with the ball on the half volley and with a curling effort he found the far corner of the goal.

Macmillan pushed hard for a second and Tom Donald found it as he sped through the King's Academy defence with pace, before cutting inside and rolling the ball calmly past the goalkeeper from the edge of the area.

King's had little time to regroup from that setback as Macmillan added a third minutes later. George Wilson leapt high of the ground to fire a bullet header past the keeper after Stephen Walker's floating ball into the box.

Changes commenced at half time for King's as they looked to try and get back into the game. But after the restart the goals continued to come as Macmillan tore apart a fragile King's defence; it was Jacob Thompson this time with a shot high into the goal after weak defending from the team in blue failing to break down a slowly built attack.

A fifth goal arrived with less than twenty minutes remaining to end any hope of a King's comeback; a defensive error was picked off by Ste Walker who was alert and he looped a high shot over the outstretched keeper.

Another moment of quality followed as Macmillan again capitalised on a King's Academy error and again it was Stephen Walker to provide the decisive blow, cannoning a stinging drive into the postage stamp of the goal.

George Wilson grabbed his second, managing to chip the King's goalkeeper after a Macmillan counter attack to make the score 7-0.

Walker put the final nail in the coffin managing to fire his shot high into the right side of the goal and wrap up an emphatic 8-0 victory for Macmillan.

Departing coach Mr Marsh ended his final game with his team putting in a quality performance and his final season with his team with three trophies. His successor will have a lot to live up to.
