Three of our Year 9 students officiated at the Middlesbrough primary schools hockey tournament this week. The girls were selected after excelling at a recent hockey leaders' course.

The tournament involved fourteen primary schools playing a small side version of hockey. Nadia, Hannah and Caseigh worked with umpires from local hockey club, Marton Furness. The Macmillan students demonstrated the qualities needed for effective umpiring, including: communication, clarity, consistency and most importantly enthusiasm.

The girls hope to develop their leadership skills further by supporting the new Year 7 students in the enrichment programme from September as part of their GCSE PE course.
