Year 8 students were celebrating today after receiving their 'Shine Awards' for their work in Year 7.

Shine is a sustained programme of support provided to pupils throughout Year 7 to Year 11, delivered in partnership with local schools across the region. It aims to raise awareness and knowledge of higher education, while also inspiring, motivating and encouraging participants to realise their aspirations and achieve academic success.

Last year, the students completed the 'My Passport' challenge, which involved workshops, online activities and competitions to introduce the students to higher education and increase their awareness of the opportunities available.

Head of Year 8 Miss Jones said, "The Shine programme really is a worthwhile experience for our students. It can have such a positive impact on those involved and helps them to think about the opportunities available to them in higher education"

Congratulations to those students involved!
