Macmillan Academy is a designated Training School as part of the High Performing Specialist Schools (HPSS) programme. The TDA is responsible for managing the training school element of the HPSS programme with policy direction from the DCSF. There are currently 227 training schools across 108 local authorities. The Macmillan Training School is directed by the Assistant Principal for Training and Development Lynn James who works closely with the Deputy Principal Phil Latham to ensure all training is firmly linked to teaching and learning. The training School has an office in the centre of the academy and administrative support.

Facilities
There are three designated training rooms in the academy as well as the use of a lecture theatre and IT space when needed. Training rooms are designed for flexible use offering a range of layouts and facilities (laptops, internet access, IWB).
Training events are catered for by our excellent academy catering staff with a selection of hot and cold menus on offer.
