Opportunities

Students enjoying rock climbing and canoeingLearn to Climb

For first time climbers. An action packed course where students will learn the basics of climbing safely. Students will develop the skills to enable them to progress to Rock Improvers. NICAS Level 1 Foundation Climber.

Rock Improvers

For climbers who have completed the Learn to Climb course and have achieved NICAS Level 1. This course focuses on advanced climbing techniques, bouldering and safe belaying. NICAS Level 2 Top Rope Climber.

Climbing Team

For climbers who consistently demonstrate exceptional talent and who have achieved a minimum of NICAS Level 2. Team members will receive an individual coaching plan and will be put forward for regional and national competitions.

Water Sports: Canoe, Sail , Surf & Scuba

A range of opportunities at beginner to advanced level to progress with canoeing, sailing, surfing and Scuba diving. Courses linked to National Governing Body Awards and international visits.

Mountain Biking

Learn the fundamental skills to ride off road safely. Course includes bike maintenance, road safety, navigation and riding skills.  Weekend visits to forest parks, adventure races and long distance cycle events.

Power Kiting

Exhilarating dynamic sport for the adventure thrill seeker. Using the very best in kite technology and under the guidance of experienced instructors… live to fly!

Expeditions

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver & Gold,  John Muir Award, Peak District Climbing, Lake District Challenge, Three Peaks. Fully supported by qualified mountain leaders and the Macmillan Academy Expedition Unit.
