It covers the main business topics of business start-up, marketing, human resources, financial management and economics. It is assessed via a multiple choice exam at the end of Year 10 (worth 25%), a piece of controlled assessment at the start of Year 11 (worth 25%) and a final extended answer examination at the end of Year 11 (worth 50%).Post 16
We teach BTEC Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma and Diploma in Business.
The choice of specification is based upon our particular expertise in the subjects, what we consider the most appropriate format for examination and coursework and, of course, our perception as to the specification which will give our students the greatest opportunity to gain the best grade possible.

Our BTEC courses have been chosen for the following reasons:
- there is a clear follow-on from the GCSE; though this is not essential. They are taught in small parts, called units, and they are all coursework, which means that everything does not depend upon a final examination;
- Completing three BTEC units in the first year means you automatically gain the equivalent of an 'AS' level qualification. Further units in the second year lead to the full qualification equivalent to 'A2' Level. The units include topics such as:
- Exploring Business Activity
- Introduction to Marketing
- Investigating Business Resources
