Creating games in Flash 8 is usually not for the beginner Flash user. This resource has been created to teach the basics of game design using Flash 8. Each set of code has been explained to help with the understanding of ActionScript. The idea of this resource is to create and program a simple shooting game, using collision detection. Once you have mastered these basic functions, you will be able to experiment more and create different types of games, but using the same ActionScript.

Although this tutorial does take you step by step how to create the finished game, it does require some basic knowledge of Flash, e.g. how to add a keyframe, convert something into a symbol, create a button, adding a layer, etc.

All the completed fla files can be found inside the games folder, so if there is any ActionScript that get wrong, you can just simply copy and paste.

The finished game will look similar to the one below, although, how the game looks is totally up to you, so try and be as creative as possible!
