CAREERS LIBRARY
The Careers Library is located next to the main Library.
It has an extensive range of information resources suitable for students in Year 7, up to Year 13.
SUPPORT
- Offering information on choices at keys points of transition – year 9 options; post 16 options; post 17and post 18 options.
- Sign posting students towards comprehensive, fully inclusive, up to date careers information
- Explaining choices available through one to one guidance interviews, which includes an invitation to parents.
- Careers education delivered through the curriculum during Mind Set.
- Access to impartial advice and guidance by qualified staff.
- Guidance linked to academic tutoring, open evenings and STCE.
- Effective recording and referral systems
- Support on how to use the materials available.
The Careers Team works closely with Heads of Year, SEN Department and teaching staff to ensure all students are aware of the facility and have inclusive access to it.
It has successful partnerships with local industry to offer students post 16 experience of the world of work.
These links are developed further through Next Steps Day, Health Day, mock interviews and guest speakers.
To take the pressure from working parents, a University Open Day Programme is offered to Post 16 students who are interested in going to higher education; the Academy will provide transport to the universities.
Careers resources are also available through remote desktop under curriculum software, enabling student access to information either at school or in their home.
