Exemplary Reports
Student A | 10En
Student A has worked with enthusiasm and is expected to achieve good results in English. He is an articulate student with well developed listening skills. He is a competent reader, he understands a range of texts and is developing the ability to discuss and write about what is read. Student A's writing is beginning to develop in range and quality. He demonstrates mainly accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar and makes sophisticated vocabulary choices. He must now focus on making sure he answers the questions on the reading paper thoroughly, taking note of how many marks are required for each question and responding accordingly. This let him down in the mock exam as his answers often lacked detail. Student A has produced a good year's work. Well done!
Student B | 7Sp
Student B is a capable student who has not worked as hard as he could this year in Spanish. His efforts in class and in homework have both been inconsistent and he has not shown enough resilience in terms of coping with work on his own. He is able to recognise and use a wide range of vocabulary on familiar topics in his work and also produce fairly accurate pieces of writing with guidance. However, he could still do a lot more to achieve higher grades of which I think he is more than capable. First of all, I would recommend that Student B works consistently every lesson and aims to complete every task set to the best of his ability. Also he should take more pride in his work in general and be better organised, bringing the correct books every lesson. Student B needs to change his work ethic and increase his efforts as of now otherwise he will not achieve the results of which he is certainly capable, in this subject.
Student C | 8Hi
Student C usually works very well in History. She has good knowledge of all of the topics that we have studied, especially the Industrial Revolution. This was reflected in her examination result. In particular, Student C is very good at using her reasoning skills to justify her ideas in her written work. To continue to make progress, Student C must ensure that she does not allow herself to get distracted by others in the class. She should also try to use historical sources more in her written work to support her ideas.
Student D | 9En
Student D is a highly able and conscientious student. She is eager to contribute her ideas and opinions and has consistently produced work of a high standard. Student D has made good progress over the course of the year and is on track to achieve highly in the forthcoming SAT exam. In order to ensure her success, Student D should concentrate on developing the explanation of her ideas in more detail to consider not only the reasons behind the writer's choice of words but also the effect on the reader. She should also try to use a wide and varied range of vocabulary and cohesive words to link her sentences and paragraphs and she must revise the notes on her Shakespeare scenes thoroughly.
Student E | 7L2L
Student E has embarked upon the first year of our Learn to Learn course. This course has been designed to teach students transferable skills that can be applied to all subjects and to his later life. Student E has been encouraged to become more responsible, resourceful, resilient, reflective and has been taught to develop his reasoning skills. Student E sometimes contributes to group work and when he does, he is able to offer positive ideas to help the group to progress. Furthermore, he is beginning to use his initiative when solving problems and, when prompted, he gives clear reasons to support conclusions. To continue to make progress, Student E should ensure that he reflects on his work to see how he could improve upon it in future tasks.
Student F | 11Fr
Student F is up to date with his coursework, is fairly well prepared for his speaking test and is working well towards his Target Grade, which he should achieve or hopefully exceed, with sustained effort in class and with homework. Student F can identify and note the main points and can extract details and opinions from familiar language including past, present and future events. He is also able to communicate opinions and descriptions using a range of vocabulary, structures and tenses. Student F must now concentrate on improving his coursework grades by working on accuracy, especially when using tenses. He must also ensure that he puts as much effort as he can into preparing for his speaking test. Student F has a positive attitude towards French, which combined with his talent and good work ethic should allow him to achieve his Target Grade, he just has to believe that he can achieve it.
Student G | 11Hi
Student G is a very pleasant student who has worked hard over the course of GCSE History. Her coursework about the First World War was pleasing as she achieved her target grade of a B. In the recent exams, she also secured her target grade. Student G is, therefore, making pleasing progress. In order to maintain this, she needs to ensure that she revises fully for her exams. I would suggest that she makes precise revision cards from the sheets she has to add to her revision folder. This will allow her to have detailed knowledge, which is required for both papers.
Student H | 11En
Student H has made a sound start to this year's courses - Literature and Media Studies. He has offered valuable contributions to class discussions, but he should attempt to contribute more fully if possible. He has completed all coursework to date, but must ensure that the final piece of Media Studies coursework is done in good time and that he sets aside time to prepare for his Media Studies exam. He is particularly able at using resources to create his own practical productions and he should ensure that he has the time to practise before the exam. When studying Literature Student H is conscientious at recording notes and ideas, but must remember that there is no one fixed interpretation and his writing should reflect this. In preparation for his exam he should ensure that all the poems and short stories are thoroughly known and that he is confident about essay writing techniques. Over the coming term we will be working on answering exam questions and structuring responses. Student H has a great deal of potential and must now ensure he remains organised and prepared to achieve his best.
